Painting progression 3

March 14, 2015

THE MOON and schoolhouse roof were masked, then a wash applied in the sky areas.

Once done, a decision was made to next eliminate the horse, it becoming an unintended focal point if left in. (A lone horse standing at night in front of an abandoned school in bitter cold would be incongruous).

I like how you have a blurb for each progression to share the thought that goes behind your art.
    Thank you.

Beautiful emotional atmosphere in this composition. The power of winter devouring the landscape is presented in avery eye striking & creative manner. πŸ™‚

  7. As I said before, it makes me so very happy to see you, Lance. And to see the finished painting. It is a startling and starkly beautiful piece. As the end of my life approaches, I have a need for “completion”. You were lost to me, but I did not forget. I worried and longed to have the “quintessential gentleman” back. Thank you, Lance.
